Kathleen Rogers - President, Earth Day Network
On April 22nd of every year, the entire world is invited to celebrate Earth Day. Itās the largest environmental movement in the world and aims to raise awareness of environmental issues and promote eco-friendly practices. To make the most of the event, many countries practice Earth Week to extend the time focused on this important cause.
"To achieve a 60% reduction by 2040, EARTHDAY.ORGās goals are:Ā
(1) promoting widespread public awareness of the damage done by plastic to human, animal, and all biodiversityās health and demanding more research be conducted on its health implications, including the release of any and all information regarding its effects to the public;Ā
(2) rapidly phasing out all single-use plastics by 2030 and achieving this phase-out commitment in the United Nations Treaty on Plastic Pollution in 2024;Ā
(3) demanding policies ending the scourge of fast fashion and the vast amount of plastic it produces and uses; andĀ
(4) investing in innovative technologies and materials to build a plastic-free world."

"Our remedy isĀ Direct Action; a collaborative model that partners with governments to push back on decades of exploitation and neglect using ships, technology, tenacity and a relentless commitment to hands-on, daily solutions. We fight the poachers, cartels, and industrial trawlers that break the law, that push species to the edge, and our crews and volunteers work to bring their days of devastating the ocean to an end."

Earth Day, celebrated every April 22nd, is a global movement focused on environmental protection and sustainability. In 2024, the theme emphasized stronger climate action, eco-conscious living, and reducing waste, values deeply aligned with Indie and Harperās ethical jewellery philosophy.
We champion sustainability through the use of recycled metals, ethically sourced gemstones, and environmentally conscious packaging. Earth Day is a reminder of our commitment, but we integrate these values into our daily practices year-round.
Our jewellery is crafted using recycled sterling silver and gold, conflict-free gemstones, and low-waste packaging. These choices reduce our carbon footprint and help preserve natural ecosystems.
Simple actions like supporting sustainable brands, reducing plastic use, and planting trees can have a meaningful impact. Choosing ethical jewellery from Indie and Harper is another stylish, eco-conscious step you can take.
Absolutely! Ethical jewellery makes a thoughtful gift that aligns with sustainable values. Each Indie and Harper piece tells a story of care for the planet, the people who make it, and the person who wears it.
